Deficit Compass works without an account, profile, or server-side health record. It does not load advertising-network code.
Calculator data
Calculator inputs and results are processed by JavaScript in your browser. Deficit Compass does not submit those values to an application database and does not store a user profile.
When you use “Share result,” the calculator values are encoded in the URL fragment so the recipient can restore the same result. Anyone with that URL can read those values. Do not share a result link if you do not want its values disclosed. The site removes query strings from analytics page-view URLs.
Web analytics
Deficit Compass uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate page visits, referrers, countries, browsers, and device types. The analytics configuration removes query strings before a page view is sent, so values in shared calculator links are not included in analytics URLs.
Vercel may process a timestamp, path, referrer, approximate location, browser, operating system, and device category. Deficit Compass does not send names, email addresses, calculator inputs, or custom health-data events.
Affiliate links
Deficit Compass may earn a commission when a reader voluntarily purchases through a clearly disclosed affiliate link. Affiliate links are not used to determine calorie targets, macro suggestions, safety language, source selection, or product rankings. A product page will identify the commercial relationship beside the relevant link; see the affiliate disclosure for the current status.
When you follow an affiliate link, the retailer or affiliate network processes the visit under its own privacy policy. Deficit Compass does not add calculator inputs, names, email addresses, or health data to those links.
Hosting and logs
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like most web hosts, Vercel may process request metadata needed to deliver and secure the service. Review Vercel's privacy policy for its practices.
