About the project

Make the estimate useful, then make it honest.

Deficit Compass is a free calorie-planning utility built to turn a maintenance estimate into a usable starting plan without hiding the math or uncertainty.

Why it exists

Most calorie calculators stop at a maintenance number or present a deficit with false precision. Deficit Compass combines several estimates, lets the user choose a body-weight-relative pace, checks a goal date, and encourages calibration from actual intake and weight trends.

The calculator runs without an account. The basic planning tools will remain free.

Who built it

Deficit Compass was created by Aaron Bergquist from a personal calorie-planning spreadsheet and developed into a public web utility. Aaron is the product owner and software author, not a physician or registered dietitian.

The methodology cites primary research and government guidance, but the site has not yet received formal medical review. That limitation is stated wherever it matters rather than replaced with an invented credential.

Corrections and partnerships

Formula errors, accessibility issues, source corrections, and responsible partnership proposals are welcome at hello@deficitcompass.com.

Future monetization will be disclosed clearly. A commercial relationship will not change a calculator result or be presented as medical endorsement.
